"Energetic power pop inspired by the beat music of the 60s, the punk of the 70s, and the guitar pop of the 80s:
The Jam and The Clash rolled into one—The Beatles with mohawks!"
A blast from the past
Britpop vibes from the 90s
Founded in 1987, the band rocked the nation for over a decade and was hailed by the press during this period as "one of Germany's best live bands."
Two albums, produced by studio legend Peter Weihe, were released by East West/Warner in 1994 and 1996; the singles "Daddy" (from the album "94") and "All Day and All of the Night" (Hurst) secured rotation on the music channel Viva.
In addition to countless gigs, they toured with acts such as "Fury in the Slaughterhouse" and the British icons "The Godfathers".
Reunion after 30 years
The Colour Red today
In early 2026, THE COLOUR RED regrouped and—armed with a batch of new songs—began preparing for their first live gigs: “It’s incredibly exciting to be standing together in the rehearsal room again for the first time in nearly 30 years. "After just a few minutes, it was clear that everything was back—it’s fascinating!”
30 years—new songs—a reunion—what’s it all about?!
“For us, this is truly a labor of love: Although each of us went our own way after the band broke up in the late 90s, we always stayed in touch.” — “Wolle’s Vespa workshop (Scooter & Service) served as our central hub, since we all ride classic Vespas.” — “It was bound to happen!” — “We’re under no pressure—just pure joy of playing and passion!”
NEW ALBUM - "26"
The best album of the band?
The new album, "26" has been fully recorded and is set to be released shortly—is it the band's best album yet?
"This time around, we did everything ourselves—we didn't want anyone interfering—neither a record label, nor a producer, nor a marketing agency. Recorded at Ralf Lübkes "Monkee Cage" studio, mixed by Steffen Häfelinger, Wolfgang Riehn handled the artwork and website, while Henning Brandt took charge of booking and logistics—produced by THE COLOUR RED!"
Newcomer Christian Decker (of Fury in the Slaughterhouse) will fill in on bass at live shows for Wolfgang Riehn—who is sidelined due to a wrist injury—and has already "warmed up" on several tracks on the new album.
THE COLOUR RED are:
Ralf Lübke: Vocals, Guitars
Steffen Häfelinger: Guitars
Christian Decker: Bass, Vocals
Henning Brandt: Drums
Wolfgang Riehn: Additional Bass
